Ils sont vingt-six diplômés de l’École nationale supérieure d’art, et désormais jeunes artistes à part entière, prêts à franchir le pas vers une future carrière. Ils sont la 41e promotion issue de la Villa Arson et ont souhaité intituler leur exposition Demain c’est loin. Ce titre, qui pose un paradoxe temporel, entre l’immédiateté irréversible du lendemain et un avenir que l’on verrait lointain, est à l’image de la vivacité et des doutes qui habitent ces jeunes artistes face à leur destinée. Optimisme et inquiétude s’expriment dans ces trois mots qui sonnent comme le refrain d’une chanson rap1, comme un slogan d’une génération nourrie de certitudes et d’incertitudes.
L’exposition organisée au lendemain de la remise du diplôme et cette publication qui l’accompagne permettent de confronter ces
jeunes artistes à la réalité du public et de la critique, tout en leur donnant une première forme de reconnaissance. C’est bien là
toute l’ambition de cette proposition, avec le souhait que chacun trouve dans les travaux de ces artistes matière à s’interroger sur la création contemporaine et le monde d’aujourd’hui ; et que chacun puisse trouver sa voie dans ce monde sans cesse mouvant de la création contemporaine. AHere are twenty-six graduates of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure
d’Art, now fully-fledged young artists, ready to take their first steps towards a future career. They are the 41st class from the Villa Arson, and they wanted to call their exhibition Demain c’est loin. This title, which poses a time-related paradox, between the irreversible immediacy of the day after and a future seen a long way away, is like the liveliness and doubts which inform these young artists confronting their destiny. Optimism and anxiety are voiced in these six words which ring out like the refrain of a rap song, like a slogan of a generation fed on certainties and uncertainties.
The exhibition organized immediately after graduation and this publication accompanying it, help these young artists to face the reality of the public and the critics, while giving them an initial form of recognition. Herein lies the whole aim of this idea, with the wish that everyone might find in the works of these artist the stuff of questions about contemporary art and today’s world; and that each of them may find his way into this ever-shifting world of contemporary art.
